Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida 100: TALE OF THREE LEADERS

On the federal level, President Trump not only threw his hands up and relinquished responsibility for handling COVID-19, but he actually called it a “Democrat-led hoax.” On the state level, Gov. Ron DeSantis refused to validate there actually was a global pandemic, despite what is now 1 million cases and 20,000 deaths in the state. And on the local level, there is Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings – who earned his title the old-fashioned way: he made decisions that made sense, because others didn’t have the courage. Leadership isn’t about office, it’s about character: Jerry Demings has it, some others don’t.
