When Gov. Ron DeSantis opened up the state on May 29, he did so with virtually no controls in place and cases soared. This week, the governor opened up senior-living facilities, again with minimal restrictions. That decision will not bode well. We still have no treatment and no vaccine. But we now have rapid testing with 15 minute on-site results. The problem is that senior-living communities can’t acquire them, but the state can. Let the state’s task force distribute testing equipment now with unambiguous state-mandated protocols: seniors will be far safer and their loved ones can come calling. Sentiment – yes! But science first.
