Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida 100: FEDERALIST SOCIETY

The Federalist Society is on a roll. After a well-publicized but unsuccessful attempt on the part of Gov. Ron DeSantis to install fellow Federalist Society member Judge Renatha Francis to the Florida Supreme Court, his January 2019 appointee to the court, Miami-born Judge Barbara Lagoa – also a member – was vetted by President Donald Trump for the U.S. Supreme Court. It is fair to conclude that The Federalist Society, with ties to six Florida Supreme Court justices, five U.S. Supreme Court justices, and scores of federal judgeships has clearly become very successful at influencing, if not co-opting, constitutional interpretation for decades to come.
