Language, whether expressed in the symbols of mathematics, or in the idiom of words, is the method by which thoughts contain expression that can both be captured as well as communicated to others. It is the way that a single cognitive institution is able to be expressed in some manner that can be codified, embraced and communicated. Without the capacity for symbolic thinking, we would be unable to capture, let alone provide a method for communicating a single discernable thought, whether that thought be expressed in a word, a mathematical formula, a scientific principle, or whatever.
