It is not surprising that JCPenney, among other traditional retailers, is shuttering some 154 stores, including its store at Orlando Fashion Square. Nor is it terribly surprising that Amazon has captured 49% of all e-commerce sales, 6% of all retail sales, and 35% of all commerce. Take a look at our own buying habits and you’ll understand why. What is noteworthy, however, is that, in opening its Amazon 4-Star store at the Mall at Millenia, along with other locations in South Florida, Amazon has showcased the new business model where traditional retailing is being replaced with a central online hub supported by retail spokes featuring the most popular products.
