It appears that we are living in “unprecedented” times. COVID-19, the first global pandemic since the Spanish flu 100 years ago, descended on us in 2020. We are living through “unprecedented” storms wiping out the entire Texas power grid not accustomed to glacial sub-zero conditions and punishing half of the rest of the country to boot. In the meantime, we experienced two “unprecedented” impeachment trials; an “unprecedented” failed insurrection – only the second in our history; even “unprecedented” murder hornets wiping out the bee population in the Northwest. Everything appears, at least as reported, “unprecedented.” Has “unprecedented” now become the new normal?
