Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida 100: SHOTS, NOT SITES

I heard a plea from a local official this past week for “shots,” not “sites.” The premise is that if local governments get their vaccines, they’ll figure out how to distribute them. The City of Venice EMS couldn’t have done it better with firefighters armed with extra doses canvassing homebound seniors and assisted-living communities vaccinating as many as their inventory would allow. In truth, it does appear that with CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Walmart, first responders and so forth, building sites isn’t the issue; getting more doses is. Kudos to the city of Venice for showing us how it’s done: think globally; act locally.
