Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida 100: POLITICAL APATHY

At what point does human apathy define politics? Apparently, Republican Senator Rob Bradley, as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, had such a busy agenda that he wasn’t even prepared to meet first-grader Kaia Rolle and her grandmother Meralyn Kirkland, who drove four hours to recount Kaia’s story of excessive force and racial profiling at the hands of a police officer. Even worse, the House joined the Senate in taking no action to make arresting anyone below the age of 10 unlawful. For heaven’s sake, legislators, would the result have been different if Kaia were your daughter?
