Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida 100: MUSICAL CHAIRS

With Lucky’s Market filing Chapter 11, closing or selling its stores, Aldi picking up five leased and one owned store, and Publix grabbing five more, it appears that the grocery business is playing its own game of musical chairs in Central Florida. The grocery business is noted for slim profit margins on massive sales in the best of times; however, the neighborhood has become ever more treacherous now that grocery retailers are boasting free two-hour delivery. While I am sad that I’m losing arguably the best orange juice sold in grocery stores in the state, I am happy I’m not in the grocery business.
