A very happy birthday to Jonathan, the giant Seychelles tortoise who turned 190 years old this past weekend — he was apparently born in 1832. While Jonathan no longer has his senses of sight and taste, it doesn’t seem to have diminished his strong libido, according to local vet Joe Hollins, noting for the Guinness Book of World Records that Jonathan is frequently spotted mating with fellow tortoises Emma and even occasionally Fred. In addition to what has been a good long life, Jonathan is making his TV debut in an upcoming sequence of “Love Island.” This story had too many takeaways not to feature for this week’s CF100.
