Falling somewhat under the category of “regularly scheduled programming,” John Krasinski’s Some Good News, a YouTube by-product of the pandemic, is a reflection of what is likely to emerge as the next generation of programming in America. Surrounded by the havoc the virus created, our social environment is morphing. Health care workers have joined first responders as America’s heroes; families are reuniting; Zoom has become the tool for connecting friends and communities of like-minded individuals; and social media have stepped up to display good humor, good news and goodwill. We will get to the other side and when we do, my suspicion is that we will find a kinder, gentler place to live.
