Stephen McKenney Steck recently passed away unexpectedly. The Orlando Sentinel’s published article and his family’s obituary chronicled his robust life and career. I remember standing beside Steve, a man I had only recently met, in a makeshift fundraiser in the early ‘80s pitching for contributions to his beloved WMFE and overwhelmed by his passion and commitment. I was young and he loomed large. Life has taught me that individuals like Steve don’t just show up but contribute, and, we are honored to pause for the man who gave 43 years to shaping public broadcasting in Central Florida.
