Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida 100: DRIVERLESS

Autonomous driving is getting closer as Ford Motor Company and Pittsburgh-based Argo A.I. are partnering with Lyft to begin autonomous services in Miami later this year. The service will begin with human backup drivers and then go fully autonomous thereafter. The Lyft deal is closest to home here in Florida, but not the first of its kind, following Uber’s stock deal with Aurora this past December, Alphabet’s Waymo service in Phoenix and GM’s majority-owned Cruise unit. It may not be quite here yet, but it’s getting awfully close.
