
With consumer interest in electric vehicles exploding, as anyone knows who saw this year’s Super Bowl ads, attention has clearly shifted to the unseen infrastructure to make EVs work – car chargers. The automotive industry is now producing forty different electric car brands manufactured by 20 different car companies, with an 82% increase year over year. On a local basis, while Florida has the second-highest number of electric cars in the nation, it lags far behind California and New York in fast charging stations, Snagging a share of the U.S. Department of Energy’s $5 billion electric vehicle charger giveaway makes sense for Florida’s economy and climate.
