Articles of Interest: Sarkozy Imagines: No GDP

I’m including an article which appeared in the January 10th issue of The Wall Street Journal about the Human Development Index (HDI), which measures education, life expectancy and economic output, as opposed to the GDP, which measures conventional gross domestic product. The article goes on to indicate that French President Sarkozy has commissioned those same economists to evaluate an even broader index. I have continued to be interested in the context with the concept of a Well-Being index and was impressed that there is a parallel effort at this high a level to attempt to quantify something of that nature. I’ll continue monitoring it.
