The brouhaha between two leading men – California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – just erupted, according to what Newsom told The Bee in the U.S. Capitol. Newsom went over the edge after the Florida governor threatened to fine the Special Olympics $27.5 million if it didn’t drop its COVID-19 vaccine mandate before the 2022 U.S.A. Games in Orlando last month, extorting Special Olympics officials to comply. That and similar governmental hammers, all too familiar to DeSantis, became Newsom’s tipping point and very possibly the Maginot Line for the upcoming 2024 election.
