The responses from Advent Health and Orlando Health, after being cut off as partners with UCF’s Medical School for a teaching hospital, might have been a bit snippy, but not beyond comprehension. Both institutions were major contributors to UCF’s attempt to win state approval for the College of Medicine in 2006. UCF’s decision to now spurn them in favor of HCA Healthcare is a bit like abandoning the Kurds after years of fighting side by side – a real head-scratcher. It might be wise for UCF to rethink its strategy.
