Good news for Florida from the Financial Times and Nikkei: Miami, Orlando and Tampa were ranked No. 1, No. 2 and No. 11 in their most recent ranking for foreign investments in America. The ranking measures the amount of foreign direct investment on a per capita basis, along with three dozen metrics such as catering to the needs of overseas companies, airports with non-stops to foreign destinations, and access to the largest shipping ports in the country. Of special note is that advances in the amount of foreign investment came from Florida’s push to appeal to countries beyond Latin America and from improvements in the quality of Florida’s workforce.
