Florida’s Space Coast The flurry of activity in Florida’s Space Coast reflects not only accelerated momentum, but the reality that space has indeed privatized as a rich opportunity for free enterprise. Recent contracts between the U.S. Space Force and AstraSpace Inc. include launches from iconic Space Launch Complex 46 — originally used to test Trident II missiles in the ‘80s — of small satellites tracking the weather, climate, and hurricanes. In conjunction with contracts doled out to Relativity Space Inc. and Firefly Back LLC, joining United Launch Alliance and ever-present SpaceX, we are very possibly entering into what could be described as the decade space exploration commercializes, with Central Florida reaping the robust economic benefits.
