As Omicron recedes, Google announced that workers in the San Francisco area need to report to corporate offices in April. Disney, Darden, and others are evaluating their next steps. But the question lurks everywhere – statewide and nationally – are workers willing to come home at all? Working remotely morphed into a formidable rallying cry for the “Great Resignation.” As New York’s private equity firms attempted to impose residency rules for office use, they were faced with a simple response from employees: try it and I’ll find another job. Two years is a long time and workforce habits changed. Employers who can will need to change too.
