I’m attaching an article from the front page of The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, January 24th, reporting on Bill Gates and his call for a kinder form of capitalism. Apparently, Bill Gates will be delivering a speech to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, for the purpose of addressing how companies can combine capitalism with assistance to the poor.
Because enterprise and the entire capitalist system is driven by optimizing returns on capital and, with the exception of legal restraints, is fundamentally agnostic to direction, I am looking forward to better understanding Bill Gates’ views.
Having been enormously competitive himself, his thoughts are relevant. And since I view myself as a social entrepreneur of sorts, I plan on taking a look at his views. I’ll share them with you when the speech comes out.
